About Herrick Fire

I am a co-founder and principal consultant of Herrick Fire Limited where I build on my influence in the fire sector while providing specialist fire safety consultancy services, including expert witness services.

I have been the national lead for Better Regulation (during which time I introduced the principles of Better Regulation and Primary Authority to Fire and Rescue Services in England and Wales) and worked with the Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government on the response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

I joined Lincolnshire Fire Brigade in 1992 and served as an operational fire-fighter and manager for 10 years during which time I was awarded a Chief Officer’s commendation. I am a keen academic study, having passed all Fire Service and professional body examinations, culminating with an Honours Degree and Masters’ Degree in fire engineering from the University of Central Lancashire.

I moved to the West Midlands in 2002 and began my career in fire safety. I quickly built a national profile as a technical expert in fire safety and fire safety law. I developed local and national fire service policies and was instrumental in changing the way fire and rescue services regulate fire safety.
